A Need We Feed

by Singer Equipment Co.

Singer M. Tucker salesperson, Cliff Baker, and his non-profit organization, A Need We Feed, have been very busy the past two weeks. They’ve been supplying daily meals to homebound seniors, children, veterans and the homeless. They’re working with area restaurants, purchasing the meals at discounted prices, then distributing them to those in need. Participating restaurants include The Hoffman Group (River Café, Waypoint and Waterman’s Grille), Bum Roger’s Crabhouse, Burger 25, Capone’s, Luigi’s Italian Deli, Office Lounge Bar & Grill, Café Italia, Ohana Grill, Maruca’s Pizza, Mantoloking Alehouse, One 18 Bistro, and Shore Catering.  With the demand increasing constantly, they are now ordering 150 meals every day.

Cliff started A Need We Feed in 2012 in response to the Hurricane Sandy devastation. With numerous food, product and monetary donations as well as a cadre of volunteers, he and Chef Mike Jurusz from Atlantic Bar and Grill prepared 350 Thanksgiving meals for the military and first responders who had come to the area to help. They planned for three seatings in a tent in his backyard, but then travel was restricted due to the implementation of martial law. A volunteer firefighter offered the use of a firetruck and the meals were all delivered on Thanksgiving Day.

Word of the organization quickly spread and A Need We Feed has been providing Thanksgiving, Christmas and  in-time-of-need meals ever since.
