Congratulations to the team at Mozzeria in Washington, D.C. for winning this year’s Form + Function Innovation Award from Restaurant Development + Design Magazine.
“A Neapolitan pizza prototype concept, Mozzeria operates from a mixed-use residential building near Gallaudet University — a university designed to provide barrier-free education for deaf and hard of hearing students. Owned and operated by deaf and hard of hearing people, Mozzeria’s design emphasizes better visual and sensory awareness, and follows DeafSpace design principles. The judges were blown away by the “truly unique challenge” and the “clever use of sight lines” in addition to the “inspiring story of accessibility” in design,” says RD+D.
Such thoughtful design requires forward-thinking partners. Singer was honored to be among them. Our team, led by Brian Morehead, worked alongside Mozzeria’s operators to design and build the restaurant’s back of house.
