When did hotel guests get so hungry? While hotel restaurants have always held a spot in the pantheon, 2018 saw them further elevated. As a new generation of travelers ventured out from behind their screens, it seems they had one thing on their mind. Their culinary priorities became operators’ culinary priorities and, all of a sudden, slipper, robe, and laundry bag procurement took a backseat to open cooking suites, quality porcelain, and crystal glassware.
The timing couldn’t have been better. With the rising popularity of services like Airbnb, dining experiences have become hotels’ competitive edge. Enter fine casual dining, a new genre of hospitality that has become an important cornerstone of any hotel opening. Hoxton was among the first and, like so many things, they are also among the best.
The UK-based hotel chain is “a series of open-house hotels inspired by the diversity and originality of the streets and scenes that surrounds us.” Going beyond the traditional boutique hotel concept, Hoxton partners locally to optimize location, design, and – yes – food. For the Hoxton Williamsburg, their first stateside project, they partnered with local culinary talent, Sunday Hospitality. Partnering with Singer Equipment Company to supply and build their kitchens was the natural next step—with Next Step Designs as the designer.
Entering the lobby, guests are greeted by Klein’s Wine Cellar, standing face to face with a spacious open kitchen and wrap around bar. While seated, you’ll see chefs busily cooking on a Molteni luxury cooking suite and GrillWorks wood burning grill. Watch as your dish is plated on Rosenthal’s playful JOYN collection and served to you immediately.
The Hoxton Williamsburg also boasts a stunning rooftop bar, Summerly – or Winterly, depending, taking full advantage of the hotel’s prime location with a magnificent view of the city skyline. Atop the hotel, you can enjoy a delicious cocktail served in playful glassware. Order food here too; it will arrive on Chena Pink dinnerware, developed and designed by our tabletop procurement team in partnership with Steelite International.
