Excellence in Construction Award

Singer’s Mt Laurel, NJ office was part of an elite team which won the Excellence in Construction Award for Outstanding Construction Project. This award was presented by the New Jersey Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors. Singer worked with Wohlson Construction, the general contractor, on a retirement living community, Brandywine at Mahwah. Under the direction of project manager Kathy Jaggard, Singer furnished and installed all the foodservice equipment in the public space, which included a beautiful lineup of bar and back bar equipment along with a dishmachine.

Outstanding Service by Karla Gudknecht

The company I work for has a lot of locations and gets the majority of its equipment through Singer. Last month, our ice machine, only 2 years old, gave out on us. I called multiple technicians and even the manufacturer of the company all to no avail, a constant circle of phone calls leading to dead ends on dead ends. Then I smartened up and reached out to Singer which I should have done in the first place.

The representative I was put in touch with, Karla Gudknecht of Brian Morehead’s chain team, was beyond fantastic. I hope that Singer realizes what an amazing person and talent they have in her. Being the employer of quite a staff myself, it is people like Karla in the customer service industry that really bring out the best in people. From the minute I talked to her, Karla re-assured me that she would follow this issue through to the very end, and she held the promise. She worked non-stop for me to finally get in touch with the distributor, have them mail the part we needed, and even coordinated with the tech repair company to have my machine fixed, all without me having to take care of anything. Karla called me multiple times to give me updates about our progress and just called today after the final repair was made to confirm that everything was working correctly.

It is extremely rare for me to every write any sort of customer service email, good or bad. However Karla's customer service really set the bar so high that I felt I was obligated to let her company know about the wonderful employee she is. You should feel extremely lucky to have her.

Thank you so much,
Jim N.

# 1 Tabletop Design

Singer Equipment Co. was awarded first place in the club/resort category of FES magazine’s 2014 tabletop design competition. The winning entry was created by salesperson Rick Snyder and sales associates Karen Shomper and Alison Faust for Philadelphia Country Club. The club wanted to create a formal look for their member VIP dining room which offers a traditional, high-service dining experience.

A Job Well Done

I just wanted to let you know how thrilled I am with the new chef’s line that Kevin Rudnitsky designed and Eagle manufactured. Everything was a breeze, from the first conversation with Kevin to the install with Keith Seidel and all the men that delivered the unit (I’m sorry I did not get their names--wonderful, wonderful guys to work with) to the final set up with Chase McAllister. I sent many frantic emails and made a lot of phone calls thinking I may have missed something. Kevin and Chase always were able to speak with me and give me the answers I needed. The line is exactly what I had in my mind. It fits our requirements perfectly.

There is no other company I would trust my equipment needs with ---It was a pleasure to work with such great people! Thank you so much!

You make an AWESOME TEAM!

Kudos to Team Snyder

My salesperson, Rick Snyder, includes Singer’s mission statement at the bottom of his emails:

"To be the most responsive, knowledgeable and friendly supplier to the food service industry, providing solutions to our customer's challenges."

You all have proven this time and time again in that when the chips are down you all can deliver amazing results. Much thanks again for the awesome job last week in getting me my replacement freezer. You never disappoint! I am so grateful to have a supplier that I can COUNT ON when the going gets tough. Despite the size of Singer and the number of accounts that you have, I, the customer, always feel like a priority.

Please know that all your hard work and dedication does NOT go unnoticed.

You make an AWESOME TEAM!

Much Thanks!!

Rave Reviews for Marco

Sales representative Marco Sabel has worked with Mount Airy Casino for many years. The casino’s new buyer recently sent the below letter of appreciation which we’re proud to share.

I recently mentioned this to you, but I want to take a moment to put it in writing as well. I place customer service at the top of my list when considering what is most valuable in a vendor relationship. In the six months since I have been in my current position, I can tell you that Singer is in an elite class when I evaluate service and I attribute that to you. The tag line on your correspondence (“To be the most responsive, knowledgeable and friendly supplier…) is paramount to my needs and you certainly live up to that. As you know, I have been with Mount Airy since the beginning and have worked side by side with Jaimie and Albert, who preceded me in this purchasing position. They always praised your dedication and commitment towards servicing the needs of our department. Now I can see why they thought so highly of you.

Thank you for the exceptional service you have provided Mount Airy consistently week after week. I consider you more than Singer’s representative. You are a part of my team!

FE&S Names M Tucker's Morgan Tucker DSR of the Year
Foodservice Equipment and Supplies magazine presented its 2012 DSR of the Year award to Morgan Tucker, of Patterson, N.J.-based M Tucker, a division of Singer Equipment NY, LLC. Tucker accepted the award in front of the hundreds of foodservice professionals in attendance during FE&S' 2012 Dealer of the Year and Industry Awards Gala, which took place May 5 at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago.

"Every one of our 2011 DSRs of the Month are very ethical, hardworking and professional," said FE&S publisher Maureen Slocum. "For these reasons our DSRs have earned the respect of their customers and supply chain partners, who shared their heartfelt endorsements of our dozen DSRs with us. As a result, choosing the 2012 DSR of the Year was a tough task. But we proudly recognize Morgan's accomplishments. She is simply outstanding in every way possible."

While she has experience in all aspects of the industry, Tucker has developed a strong expertise in tabletop. She also excels in selling smallwares as well as janitorial and sanitation products. In only three years at the company, Tucker's sales are approximately $3 million annually.

After graduating from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration in 2007, Morgan Tucker worked as a manager for both Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group and Stephen Hanson's BR Guest Restaurant Group. Then, four years ago, she followed in the footsteps of her father Stephen and grandfather Marvin by becoming a dealer sales rep.

A Note of Appreciation from Menno Haven Retirement Communities

I just wanted to extend a note of appreciation for Karl’s assistance recently with a purchase that we were considering here at Menno Haven.

I called Karl one afternoon with a concern that had been raised from our residents visiting our Cypress Café operation who had been having trouble carrying the plates that we were using. They were extremely heavy and not easily managed. I asked Karl to help me with some options that would be available. Karl very quickly gave me the name of two manufacturers and their web addresses so that I could at least start looking at available products. Two days later, I received catalogs in the mail for each manufacturer. Upon reviewing the materials and the website, I contact Karl to assist us with receiving samples. To my surprise, the samples arrived just a few short days later. As long as I have been in this business, I have never had samples come that quickly. We finally chose products from G.E.T. Enterprises from Texas and have since put them into use in our café operation. The residents absolutely love the new place settings. They think they are a lot like Panera Bread’s, but overall, we were able to address a concern that they brought forth in a quick and positive manner.

Again, I would like share my and our residents’ appreciation for Karl’s effort in assisting us. He regularly exceeds our expectations.

Top Marks from Monroe Township Board of Education

The food service director of Monroe Township Board of Education recently wrote Singer a letter commending salesperson Don Russo on his exceptional service over the past 13 years. She was especially appreciative of his efforts on the opening of their new high school. Don’s attention to detail and commitment to the project helped everything go smoothly, from product specification to invoice accuracy. The director also wrote a commendation letter for district manager Scott Richman, who provided assistance wherever needed and went the extra mile to service the customer.

Fixer Uppers
Singer received thanks from two customers who made mistakes on their orders. One forgot to order an item he really needed and the other forgot his delivery days. In both cases, we got the customers what they needed without laying blame. The first customer wrote that he only realized later that the fault was actually his. Kudos to Jim Ozzimo, Toma Upsey and Chris Robinson for their outstanding service.
